Waking up from a dream
I juxtaposed two different self-portraits, which were printed, mounted, and photographed again. The tear is an extradiegetic drop of water on the first two photographs. The proposal is to conceive of the dream as a montage—one that emerges from the tension between images from different moments and, rather than crystallizing into a new fixed image, accentuates the power of the empty spaces that both dreams and images can hold. Like a vertiginous (but not fatal) precipice we plunge into (though not without fear) when we dream.
